great last weekend in boston. had supper at quincy with rakos on friday night. (regardless of the fact that: as soon as i stepped out of the doors of 155 federal street (where i work) it began to downpour TORRENTIALLY, and me, being so over rain, hadn't bothered to bring my umbrella. of course, i'm wearing a white top and on top of everything, i have no idea where i'm really going, so it's already great. i finally found a cvs, bought an umbrella, and got the rest of my life under control, and had a great evening.) we grabbed food and just talked and caught up for a few hours; it was so good to see a familiar face and someone who knows about life at 'cuse! she'll be in madrid while i'm in london and we talked about getting together and going somewhere fabuloussss over spring break...
you may have noticed i've started writing with little consideration for capitalization. i'm really over the up-and-down of proper grammar and i can think so much quicker without having to worry about it.
i spent saturday wandering around boston; saw funny people at the theatre on the common (good, but the producers tried to do wayyyy too much and it was wayyy too long.) weird to see adam sandler in a semi-serious role. also, nobody but harry potter and kate and leo from titanic can force an audience to stay seated for 2 hours and 38 minutes. i was mad antsy by the end. it didn't help that i had a girl on my left who smelled like metal and a REALLY creepy old man on my right who was actually scaring me. my bag was on the seat between us, and i kept getting the feeling he was going to do something creepy, so i put it on my lap. in the meantime, i was kind of leaning towards him because of metal-smelling-girl, and he was kind of leaning towards me and i was so uncomfortable. i don't want to talk about it anymore, but i survived.
i wandered back towards quincy for supper on saturday night; i settled for salmon at cheers. i think my waitress felt extra bad for me because i was alone so she was extra nice. so i was extra nice when it came time to leaving a tip. let me just say, however, that i can't wait to go to europe where it's customary to not leave a tip, in most places.
i had heard that there is a farmer's market in harvard square on sundays, so i headed over there this morning. i was a little disappointed to realize it was barely five stands with basically the same offerings at each one, but i picked up a few apples and some nectarines. just a bit of produce to get me through the week. i had a deliciousssss lunch at bertucci's afterward...i indulged in, of course, my most recent favorite...pizza! mmm, with mushrooms and plum tomatoes...
rumor has it that bev from al's got fired? or quit? saw that on facebook this week! talk about the end of an epic, epic, EPIC, era!
i'm reading this new book about the commercialization of the american wedding. it's so interesting, but i don't think it's going to have much effect on the decisions i make when it comes time to plan my own nuptials. sorry, jim and kathy. my mum and i had a funny conversation about it this weekend though: we've already got plans for beans and franks, chicken salad sandwiches, tractor pulls, and mud wrestling at my reception. but yeah, i got this book at borders on saturday and i'm almost done it. i also picked one up about how once society starts incorporating women more into leadership roles, our country and nation will change. is it interesting that i picked them up out of the bin that was 2 for the price of 1? for a toatl of $4.00?
i'm kind of scared to go to sleep because i saw a spider that looked pregnant crawl into the keyhole right above my bed and i think it's living in there and nursing it's babies. i really hope they don't crawl into my mouth when i'm asleep.
is it ironic that people are sending me emails and quizzes that are specifically for "people who know everything?" hmm.
urg, my blackberry has been flipping out. i'm so tempted to get an iphone, but i'm held back because of the AT&T service provider and because it doesn't have BBM capability. obviously. i can't believe apple would limit itself by marketing it through just one distributor.
so this is my last week at my internship. i can't believe how fast it went by. i've loved it and i've learned SO much; way more than i'll ever be able to express through words, but i promise it will be evident in my actions over the next (few) years. stay tuned.
can't wait to get back to the 207. i'll leave you with these lyrics that remind me of home:
"the truck's a ford and the tractor's green
and amazing grace is what we sing
well there's a county fair every fall
and your friends are there no matter when you call
yeah it may not sound like much
but it's where i'm from."
5 days!
stay epic.
