italian suits haven't always been my style

i'm so glad that i've been blessed by the jordan thighs, really.

to be quite honest, every morning i am concerned about this lady who rides the bus. she gets on literally less than a quarter of a mile from the train station (the rest of the walk is downhill) and when she climbs aboard the bus, i am SO nervous she is going to have a heart attack. literally she is a walking time bomb. she's not that big, but she carries her weight really low and she sweats like you wouldn't believe. this morning she was eyeing the only seat left on the bus that some other handicapped person had blocked with their walker, and i knew it was just a recipe for disaster. she made it, i think, but i'm concerned.

is it weird that every time i see a plane flying overhead, i watch it disappear into the clouds so that just in case something happens, like it explodes or it collides with another aircraft, i can be a witness? is that sick or is that normal human behavior?

so this afternoon my boss, like the highest guy up at steppingstone, the inventor, had an email sent around offering 10 free tickets to paul mccartney tonight at fenway. because there are so few people in the office right now, i had mad dibs on basically as many as i wanted, so i texted everyone i knew within the boston area (4 people) and no one was able to make it. i passed up on seeing a legend. i should have gone alone.

i was able to step out of the office this afternoon and head down to the institute of contemporary art on the waterfront with one of my favorite people who works in the office, janet. shepard fairey, a famous graffiti artist/tagger's exhibit was on display. he's currently most famous for this piece of work:

it's a thousand times cooler in real life. it's actually made out of a newspaper canvas and is screenprinted on top. i can't even begin to describe what it looks like in person (or how BIG it is!) but i'm so excited that i got to see it!

fairey is most famous for this image:

there's a whole story behind this image, but i know no one who reads this blog is actually interested enough for me to explain it. if you ever see this face in an urban area, ask me about it, i can tell you more.

there was also a video exhibit on display at the ICA; i wasn't able to check them all out, but i was able to watch this 7 minute documentary that featured a laughing contest. i watched people laugh for 7 minutes. i didn't laugh.

i literally sat in the jumpseat this morning on the t. well not actually, but i was in the very first car in a seat faced the rest of the car; my back was towards the conductor. it was so scary; you could feel the entire train moaning and groaning as people got on. this afternoon on my way back home from work at park street the conductor came on and told everyone they had to get off because the train was being taken out of service. that was great. then, just as everyone was off and settled onto the platform, they told us we could get back on. i'm really glad mbta is playing musical chairs with my life.

you know what i really like? those water bubbler things that have the big water jug upside down on them? can you get those for your house? (or your dorm?)

i've decided that the song "red wine" is my new sig. the lyrics are my life.

um also, when i was noting to myself on my blackberry that "red wine" was my new "sig," as soon as i typed "sig," my phone deleted that abbrev and inserted my name, email address, and phone number...my gmail signature. thanks for stalking my life blackberry.

it's funny, growing up i always thought it was weird when people referred to aroostook county as "the county." like what does that even mean? how can it be THE county? and to be quite honest, telling someone you're from the county isn't really telling them anything. there are a lot of places within this plot of land, and considering it is the largest county east of the mississippi river, it really eludes to nothing. still, i use the term now like it's my life. ie, "i'll be back in the county in a week...see you soon!"

so i was skyping with lindsey mather last night and our conversation lead to american politics. mather lives in toronto, and is under the impression that not much is up in the us this summer; according to her the president is just drinking beer with his friends. she had no idea the extent of the story, but when i got to thinking about it, what a waste of the media's time, and more importantly, what a waste of my time. seriously, it doesn't tell me anything when news outlets try and analyze what kind of person gates, crowley, and obama are by the type of beer they are drinking. clearly obama's will have budweiser. it's not like he can have corona like could that be more indicative of supporting the illegal immigration trade or what? but seriously, tell me something that matters. oh, and mather's actually an american.

can you believe that people think obama was actually born in kenya? ahaha. seriously. if you haven't, read an article about the theory, and then read this article that clearly reveals how ridiculous this notion is. i love the huffington post.

okay, you REALLY, really need to watch this video. it's so scary but you WILL laugh, i promise.

bahaha.

maybe i will have roommates senior year! stay tuned for developments.

i am soooo excited to go to europe. i've been working on spreadsheets; lately they've been about mad cheap discount airlines. i'm going to learn how to pack SO light and you will be impressed.

tomorrow is my last day at work with my boss and the it guy. karin is taking me to lunch with a few other office folk and then we'll follow up and debrief on my internship in the afternoon. i am sooo scared i am going to cry. please don't cry. please don't cry. please don't cry. it's been a great internship.

ooh, since i was feeling sorry for myself about missing paul mccartney, i tried kickass cupcakes. delicious! and i can't believe i got so lost looking for it the first time, i must be re'tarded.

umm, a moose on the loose in maine! i've heard of them a lot of places...but one finally got into a building! read the bangor daily news article.

i've got to get an rss feed once i get back to school. i will miss consuming media and news so regularly so much.

anyways, got an 11:00 ichat date. come back tomorrow to see if i was able to hold back the waterworks.

as always, stay epic. <3
